How to wear The Red Coat

Another piece of clothing I rescued from my "throwaway pile", I bought this coat from primark many years ago. I think it was only £23 pounds which along with the vibrant colour-was probably the driving force to making the purchase. I love how sturdy the buttons are, and I loooove the frills as they make the coat very girly!

Admittedly I haven't worn it as much as I should have over the years (hence it being in the out pile in the first place)
As much as I do love the colour red, especially over the past few years...I do have a difficult time styling it. Red can be a possesive colour, and I find that as it is a coat...it can instantly take away the attention  from the rest of the outfit. So on this occasion, I decided to wear it with an equally vibrant pair of skinny jeans. I think these two primary colours worked well together.

And how cute is the blouse?! From the moment I first saw it in Matalan, I knew I had to have it! Although at £12 I held off from buying it for a while, hoping it would go down in the sale. However it's still full price....so I couldn't let it slip through my fingers. I am obsessed with love hearts generally, so this was made for someone like me!

And I couldn't resist picking up this belt I found on a consignment store website for a fraction of the original price! It is a great belt for wearing over coats or with dresses and blouses. This size was discontinued, and I think it was around £450 when it was available-so I was lucky to find it :-)

I can honestly say this was the first time I have been photobombed by a policeman! Lol!....

On the evening these pics were taken, it was freezing cold here in London! (what's new? lol) In fact an hour before we were treated with a freak hailstorm out of nowhere....needless to say I wanted to head straight on the bus home-but I was eventually talked into going ahead with it!

The weather seems to be warming up in London (slightly) so I have started to wear more jackets recently and lighter scarves.

And I have recently come back from Sicily, so look out for some holiday looks coming up soon :-)

Twinkle Toes-Saint Laurent shoes

Be still my heart.....

The magpie in me struck again at the beginning of the year. I actually went out that day with no intentions of buying anything....least of all anything expensive, but alas, these things happen. I spotted them in the corner of the Saint Laurent section of Shoe Heaven in Harrods and when I saw that they were in my size I immediately tried them on. And I subsequently didn't want to take them off! I walked around for ages admiring my feet in the mirror-It was a done deal.

I haven't worn them outside yet, but I can tell already that they will be comfortable (and dare I say a treat) to wear. I can honestly say that the craftsmanship of YSL shoes are nothing short of amazing. Probably in part due to the 100% leather used, means they are very adaptive and mould to your individual feet making them feel like they were made just for you.....or in this case-me ;-p

Three things influenced this purchase. No.1 was the style, the modest heel, the rounded (yet not overly rounded) toe, the three strap detail all ticked a box. No.2 was the price....I love a bargain, and I grab them wherever I can get them.
Now I know in this situation it probably would have been more of a wise investment to actually leave the money in my account rather then buy the shoes, but the fact they were reduced from a whopping £750 to £169 was enough to sucker me in......then factoring in the extra 10% discount Harrods was offering their rewards customers, making the final price £152.10......Now can you blame me??!

And reason No.3?....Well, they are soooo damn sparkly! (it really doesn't take much lol) I don't know about you, but sparkles excite me!...especially on my feet. Even on a down day, if I am wearing blindingly sparkly shoes such as these, they have the power to lighten my mood and potentially put a smile on my face.

And that's reason enough for me :-)
